My Thoughts on Season 1

I binged the first season, and the ending left me in tatters. It was a wild ride packed with emotion and action, wrapped in Studio Trigger’s signature animation style. The explosive chaos reminded me of Gurren Lagann, while the intensity and madness were pure Kill la Kill. That raw energy, that heartbreak, it stuck with me.

If you’ve ever felt that post-anime depression after watching something truly incredible, then you know exactly how I felt...

Now that Season 2 is officially on the way, I couldn’t be more excited. I want to feel that rush again. The pain, the adrenaline, the beauty. If it hurts as much as the first one did, I know they’re doing something right.

What’s Coming in Season 2

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners II is officially in production, announced by CD Projekt Red and Studio Trigger.

  • New Storyline: It will not continue David’s arc. This is a brand-new cast of characters in Night City, facing their own demons.
  • Streaming Platform: Netflix exclusive
  • Release Date: To be announced
  • Tone: According to showrunner Bartosz Sztybor, “sadder, darker, more raw.” His exact words? “I just wanted to make the whole world sad.”

Here’s Why I’m All In

Behind the Madness: The Staff

Many of the creators who made Season 1 unforgettable and helped shape & mold shows like Promare, Gurren Lagann, and Kill la Kill, are back:

  • Kai Ikarashi (Director) – His first time directing an entire season. He worked on Season 1 and brings that chaotic edge.
  • Ichigo Kanno (Character Design) – Helped define the aesthetic of Promare and Edgerunners S1.
  • Masahiko Otsuka (Screenplay) – Known for writing Gurren Lagann and Promare, he brings both fire and feeling.
  • Bartosz Sztybor (Showrunner/Producer) – He was behind the emotional gut-punch of the first season and promises more pain.

In my oppinion, these names aren’t just talent, they are tone-setters. Their work isn’t afraid to push emotions to the limit.

Night City Never Dies: The Ripple Effect of Edgerunners

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners MADNESS manga is out!
  • Standalone Format: You can watch Season 2 without seeing Season 1, but fans will pick up on the legacy of Night City.
  • Cultural Impact: The first season wasn’t just a hit, it revived interest in the Cyberpunk 2077 game and reshaped the anime/game crossover landscape.
  • Potential Manga Tie-In: A Rebecca prequel is in early development, adding to the Edgerunners universe.
  • Visual Style: Expect the same kinetic, ultra-saturated chaos that made the first season so distinct.
  • Soundtrack: The teaser featured “Dive” by Beach House, which has fans speculating about another iconic soundtrack.

So yeah, I’m all in for Season 2. If they manage to crush us emotionally again, it’ll be a win in my book.
